man eating fish

Video installations.

Projection, fishbone.

Man Eating Fish is a mirrored projection installation where the virtual image in the space appears to be swallowed by the fish, surrounded by a skeletal structure that creates a sense of enclosure. The video of eating fish evokes a direct, visceral response, tapping into innate human sensibility. The table symbolises the connection between humans and the world, serving as a representation of intellect. Here, the fish as food becomes a subject of exploration; the tableware (knife, fork, chopsticks) functions as an extension of the body and hand, while the fish bones reveal the most bare, corporeal state. By employing the fishbone structure, I sought to create a more intimate connection with the fish, while the tableware reflects the tools through which the subject approaches the object.
